Kevin Kwek

Kevin has over 20 years of experience in dispute resolution where his practice focuses on commercial disputes which include litigation, arbitration and mediation.

He regularly advises clients in a wide range of commercial disputes which include litigation, arbitration and mediation in the areas of company and corporate law matters, tortious claims involving negligence and construction disputes ranging from developers to building owners on defects claims, Extension of Time claims, disputes involving the calling on Performance Bonds and acts for these parties in numerous claims both in the High Court and in the Court of Appeal and also in adjudication claims under the Security of Payments Act. Increasingly, Kevin has also been instructed to act as counsel by other law firms in various commercial cases.

Kevin is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators as well as an Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and the Law Society Mediation Scheme. He is also a tutor with the Singapore Institute of Legal Education where he tutors civil procedure to students as part of their course to be called to the Singapore Bar.

Henry specialises in commercial dispute resolution work. His practice covers a wide spectrum of work and as noted in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2016, "Henry Heng’s workload spans areas such as shipping, projects and energy, and construction." Henry’s depth of experience includes international and domestic arbitration, litigation, mediation as well as adjudication under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act.

He has established a reputation in the industry as a commercially savvy and effective lawyer. Henry has a good grasp of issues as well as being able to provide viable commercial solutions. In the courtroom or before an arbitral tribunal, he is recognised as being quick-witted and a fiery advocate.

Henry is a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, appointed as arbitrator on LSAS Panel of Arbitrators and SIArb. He is also an Associate Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre as well as the Law Society Mediation Scheme.

Joseph Tan

Joseph is a commercial dispute resolution lawyer and specialises in shipping and admiralty, international trade and trade finance. Joseph was mentioned in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific which noted that "Joseph Tan is [a] key figure …". Joseph regularly acts for commodity traders, ship owners and charterers across the whole spectrum of shipping and international trade matters. Being fluent in Mandarin, Joseph has a represented a number of Chinese clients in arbitrations in various jurisdictions including Singapore, Hong Kong and London.

Apart from acting as Counsel, Joseph regularly receives appointments to act as arbitrator in shipping and international trade disputes, having sat both as sole arbitrator as well as in tribunals of three arbitrators. Joseph is on the Singapore Chambers of Maritime Arbitration panel of arbitrators and is also a Supporting Member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.

Karnan specialises in shipping and international trade law. He speaks and reads Malay / Bahasa Indonesia and has extensive practical experience handling matters involving jurisdictions across South and South-East Asia including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, India and Bangladesh.

His clients include vessel owners, charterers, trading houses, offshore energy contractors, P&I Clubs and marine insurers. He acts for and advises clients on a range of shipping and trade related matters including those involving charterparties, commodity sale contracts, marine insurance, shipping related derivatives contracts and shipping related fraud. Karnan also specialises in assisting clients in the shipping, trade and marine insurance sectors with trade sanctions compliance and related regulatory issues.

As an English and Singapore qualified lawyer, Karnan regularly represents clients in international arbitrations in London, Singapore and Hong Kong and also appears as Counsel in Singapore Court proceedings. He is a member of several legal and industry associations including the Maritime Law Association of Singapore and the Singapore Shipping Association (International Committee) and is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

Eng Wee has more than a decade of experience in corporate law with leading law firms in Singapore and as in-house counsel with prominent companies listed on the main board of Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited ('SGX-ST'). His expertise spans corporate and securities laws, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, China, corporate restructuring, joint ventures, banking and finance, corporate and commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, corporate governance advisory and corporate secretarial. Other than heading the Corporate team at Kennedys Legal Solutions, Eng Wee is currently also an Independent Director at 2 SGX-ST listed companies. He was previously the Representative for the Shanghai Representative Office of an international law firm, and the joint Company Secretary of three SGX-ST main board listed companies.

Eng Wee has advised listed companies, issue managers, underwriters and placement agents, private equity funds, multinational corporations, high net-worth individuals and small and medium enterprises on a wide range of corporate, capital markets and private equity transactions including initial public offerings, pre-IPO investment, dual listings, reverse takeovers, public takeovers, de-listings, rights and warrants issues, placement, local and cross border acquisitions and disposals of shares and assets, downstream investment and compliance by private equity funds, joint ventures, corporate restructuring and various corporate actions by listed companies.

He also has experience advising on various cross-border transactions with PRC elements, and frequently advises listed companies on their regulatory compliance and corporate governance issues.

Eng Wee has acted for borrowers on facility loans and security documents and has also been involved on corporate real estate transactions involving sale and lease back of land and buildings, and acquisitions and disposals of office, commercial and residential buildings.
