The Law Society appoints its members to focus on specific practice areas and they play an important role in providing feedback and recommendations on law reform and other issues related to the practice areas.
Alternative Dispute Resolution
The Law Society provides a full suite of alternative dispute resolution options consisting of the Law Society Arbitration Scheme (LSAS), The Law Society Mediation Scheme (LSMS), and the Law Society Neutral Evaluation & Determination Schemes (LSNEDS). The Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee comprises four Sub-Committees who regularly review and carry out studies of various dispute resolutions while promoting arbitration and mediation as an alternative to litigation.

Building & Construction
The Standing Committee for Building and Construction looks over building, construction and infrastructure matters as well as updates relating to the industry sector and how these impact construction professionals such as architects and engineers.
Civil
The Civil Practice Committee engages with the Supreme Court and State Courts to further the interests of the Civil Bar. This includes dialogues with the Courts on a vriety of matters. The Committee also participates actively in public and private consultations.

Conveyancing
The Conveyancing Practice Committee provides guidance on matters relating to conveyancing practice as well as directions and rulings on behalf of the Council relating to conveyancing practice disputes referred by members. The committee further provides feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes and liaises with the Courts and other bodies on such matters.

The Corporate Practice Committee addresses and provides guidance on matters relating to the practice, feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes and liaises with the Courts, and other bodies.

Criminal Law
The Criminal Practice Committee regularly engages with the stakeholders from the courts and government agencies, and addresses and provides guidance on matters relating to the practice; feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes; and liaises with the Courts, and other bodies on practice matters..

Cybersecurity and Data Protection
Amidst a growing emphasis on cybersecurity and data protection within the legal profession, as well as ongoing developments in the cybersecurity and data protection landscape, the committee provides guidance on all matters relating to cybersecurity including but not limited to information security management, data privacy and protection, data governance, cybercrime, and digital forensic investigation and legal practice.

Family Law
The Family Law Practice Committee addresses and provides guidance on matters relating to family law practice, provides feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes in family law practice, and liaises with the Courts and other bodies on family law practice matters.Committee members provide free legal advice every Wednesday at legal clinics in the Family Justice Courts.

Intellectual Property
The Intellectual Property Practice Committee focuses on supporting Intellectual Property (IP) practitioners in the different areas of IP practice. It addresses and provides guidance on matters, provides feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes and liaises with the Courts and other bodies on IP law matters.

Insolvency
The Insolvency Practice Committee addresses and provides guidance on matters relating to insolvency practice, provides feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes, and liaises with the Courts and other bodies on insolvency practice matters.

Muslim Law
The Muslim Law Practice Committee engages in regular dialogues with the Syariah Court, with the main objective of improving the practice standards of Muslim law in Singapore. The committee addresses and provides guidance on matters relating to Muslim law practice, provides feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes, and liaises with the Courts and other bodies on Muslim law practice matters.

Personal Injury and Property Damage
The Personal Injury and Property Damage (“PIPD”) Committee engages with the General Insurance Association of Singapore to exchange feedback received from our members regarding insurance practice.It further addresses and provides guidance on matters relating to personal injury and property damage, and liaises with the Courts and other bodies on practice matters.

Probate and Succession Planning
The Probate Practice and Succession Planning Committee’s remit is being the voice for the Law Society of Singapore in probate and administration as well as succession planning matters. The committee addresses and provides guidance relating to all matters on wills, probate, intestacy and succession, provides feedback in public and other consultations on legislative and practice changes relating to such matters, and liaises with the Courts and other bodies in these matters.
